IELTS - Minimum Requirement

I've been informed by SSD, that there seems to be a slight confusion about the minimum requirement for IELTS. Please take note, the minimum score for PMS is OVERALL SCORE: 7. This is irrespective of the individual scores.

Thank You

Happy New Year!

FAQ: Rotations/GP Posting

Hello M109 batchmates!

Most of you have returned to your hometowns already, so hope you are enjoying quality time back home. :-) Many of you have asked me several questions concerning rotations and GP posting, so I decided to write a post to answer your FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions).

1. Transport & Timing for Rotations

KKB
- Transport is provided and all bus schedules are already up on the Idrive in the rotations folder.
- Times you have to be there follows the bus schedules. Detailed schedule will be given at the hospital.

Gombak
- Transport is not provided. However, you can drive or take a train/taxi.
- Time you have to be there (still yet to confirm with CSU sisters), but 8AM is a safe bet. Anyways, don't really think they can penalize you for being late on the first day... but don't take my word for it. :-)

2. What is the incentive for the GP doctors?

- The incentive is RM100 per head they take in. So yes, the money will be settled later on - but you can tell them this so that they are more willing to take you under their wings.

3. When do we get our GP posting letters from AAD?

- The answer is..NOW. The letters for those who have already handed in their GP posting form prior to this are waiting in AAD for you to collect. Just go pay Miss Rozlin a visit and she will be more than happy to hand it to you. It is this very letter that tells the GP that they will be paid incentive, so don't lose it and most importantly DON'T OPEN it.

Hope it helps, any more questions feel free to approach me via SMS, FB, batch email or if you randomly see me walking around.

Cheers! :-)

Post-Selective Timetable

Dear M109,

I understand with 7 groups all with different timetables after selectives, things can become a bit messy. Well, for those who don't know - Idrive is finally back up and running (thankfully). So you can find your rotations timetable here:

Location: /NetStorage/DriveI@CALLAB/TIMETABLE & NOTICES/MEDICAL SCIENCES/SEMESTER 4/M109/4. Rotation Posting

But, for some reason I can't seem to located the actual timetable for CM, CSU and LAB on the Idrive anymore. I will check that out with Miss Yati this coming Monday but in the meantime fortunately I copied it before it went "missing". I uploaded it so you can find it at the respective links below:

1. CM
2. CSU
3. Lab

Hope it helps!

Cheers,
Eldwin

Volunteers for Open Day

Hey guys,

CSU are asking help from those who are interested to participate in IMU open day 2011. They need 20 volunteers (10 girls and 10 guys) to show off your CSU skills to potential students (and their parents of course!). Here are the details.

Date: 16th January 2011
Time: 8.30am to 4.00pm

Breakfast and lunch is provided. RM30 incentive. ;P

Anyone interested, head on to CSU centre and look for Sister Shalini.

GP POSTING LETTER

Hey guys,

Come and get your GP posting letters from us. For now it's with me, but I might pass it to Eldwin after today since he's staying in Vista. We will bring it during summative so don't forget to get them if you don't already have one.

Bear in mind that you need to pass this letter back (after approved and signed by your GP of choice) to AAD - Ms Rozlin (extn 2206) by next Tuesday. But for those who are not doing locally (include those doing other states) may hand in by the end of first week of December.

We need to hand it in ASAP to enable Ms Rozlin to write up the letters for the doctors on behalf of all 199 of us. So try not to hand it in at the very last minute.

Thanks! ^_________^

Textbooks for Sale!

I'm Siaw Yen from ME108, & I've just finished EOS 5 abt 1.5 mths ago. I'm looking for somebody to buy my Pathologic Basis of Disease - Robbins & Cotran (Papa Patho) 7th edition. It is still brand new in its shrink-wrap plastic just like Day 1 I bought it from EMO bookstore. I initially bought it for myself but my elder brother returned frm abroad & handed down his book to me, hence my own brand new one is unopened till today.

I'm selling it at RM 115, & trust me, the contents inside for the chapters concerning us are the same with the latest edition, which is the 8th. Please inform ur batchmates abt my offer. I can be reached at 017-3882567.

Also, I'm selling my Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine 7th edition at RM 40, which is really reasonable.

My book is brand new as I've just bought it in March this year. This is the medical bible; a 1 stop centre for all ur patho revisions. It is invaluable for ur EOS 5, & u'll find it a lifesaver for ur OSCEs. Read tis b4 every CSU & u'd hv mastered a system by the 1st wk itself, hence saving the embarrassment of being reprimanded by ur lecturers for not reading up ALL the clinically related aspects of pathology for tht particular system - which is really impossible to do by the 1st week itself. The only regret I have was not getting this book in my early years of study; I only invested in one by Sem 5 after I found out my batchmates were having a breeze through the systems while I was struggling through tonnes of books but neither absorbing as much nor as fast as them.

My Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine is bought at EMO, not Kamal, meaning u get the UK book, not the India version. So u needn't worry the binding will fall off after a few months as this is bound by thread & PVC cover.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if u've any questions regarding the books. Both are THE textbooks used in ur pre-clinical years, so u will never worry that u're making a wrong buy. Thank u very much.

Btw, can u please email to me EMO bookstore's number? Please send me Henry's hp number too, I need to ask him abt some clinical books.

Thank u so much for ur help, it means so much to me. All the best in everything in the future!
