Wellness Health Appraisal Report

ATTENTION: WHA REPORT

I know most of you are well aware that or Wellness Health
Appraisal (WHA) Reports are due on the 21st of May. Well,
I approached my supervisor today and he told me that each
group must have their group leader meet their respective
supervisors and plan a day to meet him so we can hand in/be
interviewed about our report. What exactly is the interview
all about? Well, it is just a brief discussion about what you
wrote in your report, please make sure you fulfill all that
the marking scheme requires. The interview is very brief,
about 5 - 10 minutes. However, i'm sure you've noticed that
each group consists 40-50 ppl. This is too large of a number
for all to go in one go...so that's up to the group leader to break
up and divide the groups into different days to meet (as needed).

Is the report for marks?
No.

Do you need it completed so that you can sit for summative 1?
Yes.

So hopefully, we are able to get this little thing out of the way
and we can put more focus on important things coming up.
So to make things easier...the 1st name in each group in the list
step forward and be the leader
. :-)

---------------------------------------------------
Moving on...some important updates which i have just received.
---------------------------------------------------

1. The link to IMU Library's vast online resources (online textbooks, questions, diagrams, etc.) are all put up on Nirmals (Secretary) page. All IMU computers are automatically logged in to these pages, but if you would like to access it from home please approach the library or the SRC Office.

(Also, IMU Library has a blog and a twitter, which announces the latest book/journal additions in the library, so please do encourage your batchmates to check it out.)

We have a duty roster put up in the atrium on the SRC board and on our office door to let you know who will be in the office at what time.

3. Tan Sri Abu Bakar Cup and Mei Ling Young Cup, IMU's premier sporting event is happening this Saturday, 23rd of May at 8am.

Come down to the Green Zone to watch the students and staff battle it out on futsal and cricket!

Also, kindly inform the students that some of their letters (especially the students who live in vista) are sent to IMU Bukit Jalil. These letters are kept in the Student Lounge for collection. Pei Jin, the PR Liaison, has posted up the list of names of the intended recipients on her page in the SRC blog for your convenience.

UPDATES

Convocation will be on 30 May 2009. This is the first time Convocation will be held in Bukit Jalil Campus instead of Sheraton hotel! How exciting!

This is for the following reasons:
1. To showcase the campus, allow parents to experience the environment their child has been studying in and such. Also, nostalgia!
2. To built a stronger rapport between faculty, administration and students
3. To develop the sense of belonging in students

To make this a success, the administration will need a lot of manpower and we would like to recruit 25 ushers to help out on 30th of May.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, along with a special chance to be treated like a staff and allowed entry to the staff lounge, and an opportunity to experience the grandeur and be part of Convocation.

At the moment we can't confirm any incentives for volunteers, but we really do need your help to make the convocation of our seniors a special one.

We all reap the fruits of the contributions our seniors made to IMU and this is a small chance for us to give something back in appreciation. To volunteer, please email your name and contact details to imusrc@gmail.com or contact Jodie (VP Med) directly at 014-9215715.

Thanks!

Loads of love and cheers,
Zia Shah
President SRC 09/10

$$ Any1?

First of all I'd like to remind everyone to keep the Student Lounge clean. We have found various stains and equipment has been broken. Please let your batchmates know that if any equipment is broken they should inform the SRC immediately otherwise it is hard for us to get it fixed.

We are looking for 50 volunteers for Info Day, which is on 14th June. The pay will be RM 15 for half a day and RM 30 for full day. Please ask your batchmates to sign up with you or email us at imusrc@gmail.com with the heading "Info Day". It will be a "first come first serve" thing.

Also, the SRC has taken the initiative to sort out all the noticeboards according to the type of notices that will go on them. So please inform those who have put up notices please check out the Social Concerns Representatives page and see where to move your notices to.

Yours sincerely,

Secondly, Dr. Mei Ling Young (our Provost) would like to know why the canteen is not being used to its full extent during non-peak hours (ie, Lunch time) and what students would like to see there to make them come (her suggestions were: more snack foos during those times, eg. fruits and some live music). Please ask your batchmates about this. I shall be sending out a survey form after the exam period as well.

Another Unfortunate Incident

Hey there guys!
Here is a really important matter which was informed
to me by Zia the other day. Sorry for the late update,
thank you Jean...:)

The link left by Jean says the same thing, but to better
spread awareness about this unfortunate incident, i've
decided to post it up on our blog as well.

--------------------------------------

SMS from Zia:

Dear batchreps,

Another unfortunate incident has occurred. An IMU student witnessed a 'hit-and-run' accident to a car that was parked on the side (opposite IMU, just a little down the road from the charsiupao and noodle hawkers).

So please remind your batchmates to not park on the side of the road for their own safety.

Zia
SRC President

--------------------------------------

Among other updates are:

1. ECA Computer
I regret to inform you that the ECA computer in the student lounge has been abused by students. I would like to remind everyone that the ECA Computer is for ECA purposes only. Also, on May 5th the computer was not switched off and thus was running overnight. This is detrimental to the CPU.

The computer will soon be password locked and students will need to get the council members to open it as the computers are the under the charge of SSD and thus SRC needs to keep an account of the usage.

Your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated.

2. Constituents of Batchrep Meeting Minutes
Batchrep Meeting, 27th April 2009

IT & Library

-
One E-Lab is ‘swept’ per month.
-
Phone lines will be installed in the E-Labs for students to report problems in computers to the IT department immediately.
-
Computers in the lecture halls and MPH will be replaced in June.

Student Lounge
-
Damages to equipment/facilities in student lounge must be reported immediately to ensure that it is fixed promptly.

-
Students are only allowed to eat and drink in the Executive Lounge in the SRC room and the cafeteria.

-
This measure is to prevent any unfortunate incidents from occurring within the IMU and as a means of tightening the IMU’s security.

Other Concerns
- The E-Labs have changed names but not the printers, causing confusion.
- H Drives of every faculty is accessible to all students.
-Conclusion :
Names and proper labels shall be put up. H Drive will accessibility will be corrected. IT department will be informed about this.
-
The Pink Sage was too expensive and when asked to lower its prices, the quality and quantity of the food was also lowered. They were then asked to leave.

Holidays are about to end. Hope every1 comes back recharged and fully spirited
to face the 2nd part of this sem with full momentum! :-)

On the 5th May 2009 WHO will announce SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands
Vision 2020. WHO will also launch the revised hand hygiene toolkit and
the revised WHO Guidelines for Hand Hygiene in Health Care.

The date 5th May links the ‘fives’ together of the 5th day of the
5th month with the WHO 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene. The aim, as outlined
on the website, is to be able to officially promote hand hygiene
globally on an annual basis every year on this day beginning in 2010.

The students of the M2/07 cohort will launch a hand wash campaign at
the IMU on 5th May. The IMU is One of the 5 institutes in Malaysia out
of 4471 institutes worldwide that has declared commitment and registered
for activities for this global programme.

A message from Prof Didier Pittet on the importance of hand hygiene in
preventing Influenza A (H1N1) could be accessed at
