KLPAC: Hallucination & Pintu Amaterasuby by Dewandaru Dance Company

Hi,

My name is Kasha from klpac. We’ll be having Rianto and his Tokyo-based Dewandaru Dance Company here to perform a fascinating double bill Pintu Amaterasu & Hallucination from 9 – 12 June!

It’s really interesting to have Dewandaru & people like Rianto here – they represent a new breed of dancers who preserve traditional art forms & at the same time try to bring it to a new level. They present their work on a global level and often collaborate.

Pintu Amaterasu is a fusion of both Javanese & Japanese mythology and culture while Hallucination was inspired by the book Yakuza Moon. Both works are very different in style. Pintu Amaterasu is more traditional and is an ensemble piece performed by a mix of Japanese & Indonesian dancers while Hallucination is a more experimental / contemporary solo by Rianto (it was performed at the recent Tokyo Performing Arts Market 2010).

Both pieces have been choreographed by Rianto, the co-founder & director of Dewandaru. Rianto is one of the most exciting Indonesian dance personalities to have emerged in recent times. Young and ambitious, he has chosen Japan as a base for spreading Javanese dance & exploring new ways to revolutionise Javanese dance. He particularly loves to collaborate and he’s worked with all kinds of artistes (not just dance) from all over the world. He has worked with the famed Japanese Pappa TARAHUMARA troupe and studied under butoh master Yukio Waguri.

We’re offering a Buy 10 & get 2 free promotion for dance groups / schools so do take advantage of that!

Ticket prices are all below. If you have further questions, please ring me on 03 4047 9040 or Yue May on 4047 9012.

Thanks & hope see to see you at klpac!

Sincerely,

Kasha

Hallucination / Pintu Amaterasu

Javanese & Japanese culture collides @ klpac this June!

Tokyo-based Dewandaru Dance Company and its director Rianto will be in KL for four nights only to present a fascinating double bill - Hallucination and Pintu Amaterasu.

In Pintu Amaterasu, Rianto attempts to develop a new direction for Javanese dance by creating something new, bringing together Japanese and Javanese mythology and culture. The sunlight of Amaterasu is always there to protect the Japanese people while the Javanese have the Nyi Roro Kidul and Dewi Sri. Pintu Amaterasu or Amaterasu Gate is the meeting point of both cultures… Hallucination is an explosive solo piece choreographed and performed by Rianto, inspired by Shoko Tendo’s book Yakuza Moon. To him, hallucinations are an ugly but beautiful world that only some people can feel, a facet of one’s personality and something rather special actually.

Presented together, Hallucination and Pintu Amaterasu, offers you a unique dance experience, a real fusion of styles and cultures from different countries and time period.

Rianto is one of the most exciting names that have emerged from Indonesia in recent times. He has collaborated with a whole host of international artistes including the famed Japanese group Pappa TARAHUMARA and has studied under butoh master Yukio Waguri.

Don’t miss this opportunity to catch Rianto & company here in KL

Closing of Hilltop Carpark

Please let your batches know that the hill top car park will be closed for upgrade work - for the laying down of a new surface - something students have been asking for for a while now.

We ask for your co-operation in this matter as it'll only be from the 24th to 26th, in terms of working days. Should you need a place to park, please park at the Bukit Jalil Stadium car park. I think the charge is about RM 2.00.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused, but know that it's being done with students' needs in mind. Thanks!

KKB Rotations

Hello there!

I hope that this morning's paper went well for all of you, but hey even if it didn't let's not let that pull our spirits down for we still have EOS3 ahead! And that my fellow batchmates shall be the new target, so lets leave summative behind and face forward and begin taking those necessary steps to reach there. :)

But nevertheless, though lectures are taking a temporary 'hiatus' - updates will not! So since I will not be seeing you all at Uni - it means it's even more vital you check the blog for new updates! So here comes the first one:

For those going to KKB, please remember to bring:-

1) Logbooks
2) Lab coat

This is absolutely MANDATORY, Dr. Lim has emphasized to me.

Cheers!

Happy Studying!

Summative 2 Timetable

Okay! So I understand there has been lots of confusion concerning the summative 2 paper time as it is different in our timetables as well as the 'revised timetable' on our notice board. I just received confirmation from Dr. JP:-

Summative 2 Paper will be held:

9.30AM - 11.55AM
MPH 1 - 4

this will then be followed by a feedback session:

12.00 - 12.30PM
LT1 - conducted by Dr. JP

***
And I have been trying to upload Dr Sri Kumar's Q&A session on YouTube, but taking way to long to process and usually results in it being aborted. I will try again today, but for those who urgently want it, i'm usually around campus - so let me know and i can transfer it onto yr pendrive immediately.

All the best in revision!

Cheers.

He has just told me that he has already uploaded the lecture on Idrive, so please do help to spread the news!

AIR Topic

I understand that some have been having problems locating the AIR topic and its resource. If this is the case, I would just like to bring up that the AIR topic and resources are in the photostat shop. If you don't see it there, do ask the aunties - they will know about it.

Thank you to whoever took the initiative and left it there!

P.S. Exams are nearing and I know every1 is preparing in their own ways. If there is any study/revision materials (eg. questions, pics, etc.) that you would like to share to the rest of the batch do not hesitate to approach me. If you wish to remain anonymous, it's fine too - but most importantly, I want to culture a healthy habit of learning within our batch. I will post up whatever I have, but yes with every1 contributing I believe we can make this blog a academic source in addition to a news centre. Cheers! (:
